have you ever shipped something so much you just want to hit yourself in the face with a brick
I think that the fact that the words of House Dayne are “Sworn to Martell" and the words of House Manderly are “Sworn to Stark" is beautiful because it just shows how faithful and loyal they are.
If the theories are true and Ashara Dayne is Septa Lemore that means that, after everything that happened, a member of House Dayne is still fighting for Elia’s children.
And in A Dance With Dragons, when Davos goes to White Harbor, he tells Lord Manderly that Stannis Baratheon can offer them vengeance, and Wylla Manderly says:
They killed Lord Eddard and Lady Catelyn and King Robb. He was our king! He was brave and good and the Freys murdered him. If Lord Stannis will avenge him, we should join Lord Stannis.
When Lord Manderly tells her to shut up and says that she knows nothing she replies:
I know about the promise … Maester Theomore, tell them! A thousand years before the Conquest, a promise was made, and oaths were sworn in the Wolf’s Den before the old gods and the new. When we were sore beset and friendless, hounded from our homes and in peril of our lives, the wolves took us in and nourished us and protected us against our enemies. The city is built upon the land they gave us. In return we swore that we should always be their men. Stark men!
Later Lord Manderly reveals his true feelings to Davos, however, he calls Wylla very brave:
Wylla. Did you see how brave she was? Even when I threatened to have her tongue out, she reminded me of the debt White Harbor owes to the Starks of Winterfell, a debt that can never be repaid. Wylla spoke from the heart … not every woman can be as brave as my Wylla.
To conclude, I think that both House Manderly and House Dayne are pretty important and that they are both some of the most important houses in all Westeros, but, above all, some of the most loyal.
level of suffering: starks of winterfell
Beautiful, and willful, and dead before her time.
melisandre week → day 2: favourite scene
"I can show you." Melisandre draped one slender arm over Ghost, and the direwolf licked her face. "The Lord of Light in his wisdom made us male and female, two parts of a greater whole. In our joining there is power. Power to make life. Power to make light. Power to cast shadows."
"Shadows." The world seemed darker when he said it. "Every man who walks the earth casts a shadow on the world. Some are thin and weak, others long and dark. You should look behind you, Lord Snow. The moon has kissed you and etched your shadow upon the ice twenty feet tall." (Jon VI, ADWD)
Her hair was a mane of jet-black ringlets that fell to the small of her back, and around her brow was a band of copper suns. Where the Sand Snakes were tall, Arianne took after her mother, who stood but five foot two. She is still a little thing, the captain thought. Yet beneath her jewelled girdle and loose layers of flowing purple silk and yellow samite she had a woman’s body, lush and roundly curved.
